Profile of a critic - Lennyhipp.

27 July 2007. Lennyhipp revisited.

Lennyhipp challenged me to produce a character report in return for his wonderful feat of alchemy - turning Adolf Hitler's chart into Mother Theresa. So far Lenny has failed to honour his obligation. I have, however, completed my part of the bargain and his character profile can be seen below.

Astrological references have been given throughout this report so that anyone who is interested can look them up and satisfy themselves that my conclusions are in broad agreement with traditional interpretations. The following interpretations are entirely my own and have not been copied from another source. Although this man is an avowed Astrology-hater, keen supporter of the Great Randi-Pandi, and has nothing but scorn for Astrologers, preferring to believe and assert that they and anyone who has anything to do with Astrology are, in his words, deluded, I have tried to be fair-minded and to present a balanced picture of the man. Of course, being a reactionary critic Lenny will doubtless dismiss this report as total nonsense, say that I could have deduced all of this from his emails [as if], or make some excuse to find fault or ridicule it. Such is the mind set of a reactionary critic. However...

The following report has been produced using the same techniques as my predecessors and the ones used by other professional Astrologers. No paranormal methods have been used whatsoever. No cold reading or attempting to deduce character traits from emails or other communications has been used either. The technique consists of studying the chart, analysing the data, interpreting the data, and then hand-typing the report. No material has been cribbed from the works of other Astrologers. This report covers only the main points of his character; no assessment has been made of other areas of his life, such as finances, relationships, work, etc. other than in passing.

As is often the case, there will be contradictions. These are not mistakes or oversights. Everyone has contradictions in their nature; they tend to weave their way in and out of life as time and tide dictate.

General indications.

Sun in Aries. [Mixed aspects]

The Sun Sign is not the be all and end all that some would have us believe, nevertheless it is a major consideration in any analysis.

Lenny is one of those people who likes action and likes to push the boundaries to the limit. Certainly he can be, up-front, in your face and a ‘what you see is what you get’ sort of person who comes across strongly and isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and that in itself is not a problem. However, what he may not realise is that his enthusiasm and natural assertiveness may not always sit easily with other people who see him as being pushy or someone who doesn’t listen to their views. He can also be quite aggressive and intolerant if opposed.

Lenny is a natural fighter, he shows initiative, likes a challenge, and won’t back down easily. Once on course there is little that can stop him, consequently he can achieve a great deal where courage and boldness is needed. His main problem lies with the sheer amount of energy within his nature that needs to find outlets, preferably constructive ones. If not, he will tend to get impatient and is very likely to seek out some form of activity just to allay they pressure within, and this is likely to see him going out of his way to be openly aggressive or getting himself into risky situations. Sometimes he will act impulsively, not really looking where he is going or what he is doing, and this is certain to cause problems and make enemies. Once agitated he simply doesn’t know when to call a halt; he is impelled to continue by sheer anger and frustration over which he has little control and the results are hardly likely to be beneficial.

Moon square Sun.

This is not an easy aspect to live with because the basic self is in conflict with the emotional needs thereby causing a distinct rift in his nature and unresolved conflicts to deal with. I suspect he was getting one message from his father and a conflicting one from his mother in early life. The parents were dancing to different tunes. Basically he doesn’t feel he got the support he needed when he was young, or there was a continuous family conflict that destabilised his environment and now leaves him uncertain of himself or how he feels. He may be close to one parent and distanced from the other.

His confidence will be below par at times and is largely dependent on the current mood. When he is up he is up, when he is down he is in difficulties. It changes often. His confidence is easily dented and when faces with some issues will either retreat into himself or put on a show of bravado in defence of his rather sensitive ego. His emotional relationship with people is likely to be fraught with problems because he cannot adequately express what he feels. His timing is out. He fears rejection. Strangely enough what he desperately needs is to be close, yet when this happens he feels smothered and wants to distance himself.

Habits play a great part in human nature - without them we just wouldn’t be able to function. With Lenny, his habits will tend to dominate his life, although he probably doesn’t recognise it. Yet habits, to Lenny, are a form of security, something that at least takes care of everyday life so that he doesn’t have to think too deeply about it. Trying to change a habit, even if it is obviously counterproductive, will not be easy. Lenny is basically insecure both within himself and in the world generally and so will cling to the past or to habit-patterns in order to at least give the impression that all is stable and secure.

It goes without saying that any Sun-Moon affliction not only affects the confidence and self expression so that full potential is almost impossible to achieve, but it also gives rise to deep emotional problems that are far from easy to understand let alone reconcile. [More on this later]. Lenny is not a happy bunny.

Mars trine Sun.

An excellent indicator of a go-getter, someone who isn’t afraid of hard work and who will keep going when others flag, pushing aside obstacles as if they didn’t matter - which in his mind, they don’t. Good leadership qualities as well. This man can motivate other people and inspire them through the sheer power of his nature and supreme confidence. He is quick and decisive in action and reaction - hasn’t time for dithering, or those who falter at the slightest hurdle. He demands a lot of himself and expects the same from others, placing high demands on both and generally being successful in doing so. Whenever courage boldness and sheer determination are needed, Lenny is your man.

Jupiter opposite Sun.

This marks an intellectual who is not really an intellectual - someone who likes the idea of being informed and ‘logical’ but in actual fact never actually gets round to studying some subjects fully, being more inclined to leave the job half finished and talk about the bits he is familiar with. He likes to show off but it is largely a front, and when his bluff is called is likely to fluster or make excuses - better still rely on that Uranus aspect to get him out of trouble. His judgement is poor, more often than not leading him to place faith in people or philosophies that are flawed. He isn’t an ignoramus - far from it - he is quite clever [see mental skills & education], but he would do much better of he spent less time exaggerating and finished the work he never completed.

Lenny expects a great deal from life - too much in fact. He may actually think the world owes him a living and that other people are only there to serve him and his needs. He can be extravagant, spending more than he can afford, depending on optimism rather than fact. Somehow he manages to survive, but there will be problems. Opportunities come his way, perhaps more than most, but he won’t always grasp them. preferring to rely on luck or the chance that something will turn up - eventually.

Uranus opposite Sun.

Now in complete contrast we have one of the most difficult aspects to contend with. Difficult because more often than not the recipient is totally unaware of the problems he is stacking up. The real problem lies in this man’s need to be ‘himself’, to be an individual, and to go his own way and do his own thing. In principle there is nothing wrong with this idea providing it is done correctly. In Lenny’s case this is not so.

He cannot, or will not, conform, viewing it as an infringement of his personal liberty, an affront to his person. In order to fight back - and he does like to fight, remember? - he will go out of his way to be as unco-operative and awkward as it is possible to be. The more he is pushed, the more resistant he will become. He simply has to have his own way - regardless. On many occasions he will proceed along a course of action that he knows deep down is wrong, yet he won’t be able to help himself or stop the escalation of his difficulties.

Arguing with him is pointless; even trying to discuss certain topics is certain to put his hackles up because he is very stubborn, resistant to reason, and has his very own agenda which is not negotiable. He will twist and turn, even change his opinions at the drop of a hat - anything other than concede a point.

Popularity he will have among fellow-reactionaries, which is why Lenny is a leading light in the Fight against the great evil - as he sees it - of Astrology, but he is just as likely to be a vociferous about anything he doesn't like, jumping to conclusions and making assumptions as he goes. He isn’t content to be one of the crowd, he wants to lead people to freedom - providing they conform to his unique dictates, of course. His popularity in other areas is not so good, often upsetting the very people who could be most helpful to him. Throughout his life Lenny will have to deal with people who are just as awkward as he is and when this happens both Lenny and his opponents will not be prepared to concede ground, resulting in a stand-off and a great deal of tension.

Nervous tension is a real problem. It will build up and force him into action, making it difficult for him to rest and relax, and generally disrupting his life, although he doesn’t realise it yet. He isn’t a leader who is in control, he is in fact the victim of his own inner stress - it controls him. Under pressure he will become highly agitated, even hysterical, especially if he can’t get his own way. He is also disposed to making dramatic statements and gestures simply to get attention.

Neptune trine Sun.

Now this is a surprise, especially when one considers that Neptune is also well aspected in its own 12th House. Lenny has a secret side, much of which he keeps to himself. But more on that later...

This aspect is one of the more delightful ones to be found in a chart, and is in complete contrast to his more dynamic Arian nature. This brings into play the gentler side of this man, a side he may not like to put on display [Neptune in 12th and in Scorpio]. Here we have compassion, caring and understanding, someone who will go out of his way to help others even at his own expense, with the possibility of becoming involved in charitable causes. Are we talking about the same man here? Yes indeed. On many occasions and in many charts you will find contradictions in behaviour - here is one more example. So, despite the bravado and the need to be aggressive, even obnoxious, Lenny is an incurable romantic at heart, a sort of smooth edge to a rough diamond. Love, in its deepest form, is something he feels and understands - not that he is going to admit it in public, though. More will be said about his Neptune in the 12th House later.

Personality.

Astrologers separate personality from character and treat it as a separate entity.

Sagittarius lies on the cusp of the 1st House.

This is a happy go lucky Sign indicating that Lenny tries to live life to the full and is something of a freedom-seeker. Excess could be a real problem here simply because his need for freedom will make him quite restless, unable to settle into a pattern for long, always eager to be on the move getting involved in whatever takes his fancy at the time. Numerous interests are the norm here, so much so that he will often leave projects half finished, or make promises he really meant to keep but somehow never got round to. He means well, and in fact a more generous and fun-loving man you would be hard-pressed to find, but he does forget easily and make mistakes.

Lenny seems to thrive on knowledge, likes to learn and think deeply, taking in philosophy, religious matters, morals, laws - anything intellectual. And he does have a wonderful sense of humour as well and an optimistic view on life. But, he does bite off more than he can chew with the result that he sometimes gets his mind into a subject, collects a lot of knowledge but rarely sees his studies through to the end, preferring to talk about the bits he is familiar with while ignoring the rest. It’s not that he is uneducated, far from it, but he could do much better. Lenny often employs the moral stance, and feels quite strongly about it, but the reality is that he has one law for himself and another one for everyone else.

His general health will eventually become an issue largely due to overindulgence in the good things life has to offer, leading to weight problems.

Mars lies in the 1st House. [Mixed aspects].

This has much the same effect as the Sun in Aries, emphasis the traits previously mentioned. Lenny has a great deal of energy and enthusiasm which needs outlets. It isn’t that easy to handle and will lead to restlessness and a tendency to be irritable and impulsive. His opinions are very strong, so he is disinclined to listen to advice and may reject it out of hand. He simply must have his own way. Nevertheless, he is an achiever, someone who will go the distance and is not afraid of obstacles or those who may choose to stand in his way. It will take a great deal to stop Lenny once he has the bit between his teeth because he will fight to the last.

Jupiter lies in the 10th House. [Mixed aspects].

One of Lenny’s main interests in life is to be a man of the world, someone who is in the public eye and has influence. Ambitious he certainly is. He has the ability to be quite successful, especially through the use of his communication skills and undoubted mental abilities [more on this later]. Opportunities will present themselves and fortunate associations are likely. So far, so good. But what do the aspects to Jupiter tell us, and how does his career shape up?

Career.

Moon square Jupiter.

Lenny’s imagination will get the better of him because what he sees as being perfectly feasible in his mind’s eye in not always matched by reality. He tends to be overly optimistic and a little careless, not really bothering to check out the details, assuming rather than investigating. Temperament will play its part, varying from great enthusiasm to almost indolence. Restlessness, which shows itself again and again in his chart is also present here, so settling into a routine will not be easy - he just wants to keep moving wherever fancy takes him. Again, there is a risk that too many projects are on the go at the same time or that some projects are left uncompleted. He expects far more out of his career choice than can be reasonably expected, so dissatisfaction is highly likely. Lenny will promise much, and actually means it at the time, but on occasions will fail to deliver.

Sun opposite Jupiter.

Lenny sees himself as a leader, someone who can manage and organise effectively and gain the respect of others. Not so. He will tend to be showy and to push too hard, often rubbing people up the wrong way with his bossy attitude. His confidence isn’t all it appears to be. Quite often he will bluff his way through or make almost theatrical gestures in order to get attention. He likes to think he is well liked but in all probability he isn’t. He lacks persistence, leaves jobs half finished, and often prefers to take shortcuts rather than see things through properly. Being somewhat temperamental, his efficiency depends largely on what sort of mood he is in at the time. Again, Lenny expects far more from life than is reasonable.

And now the good news...

Uranus conjunct Jupiter.

It isn’t altogether easy to live with this aspect as it does carry with it the risk of high nervous tension and great restlessness. [My, is this man restless or what?] Also, eccentricity of nature is to be expected but isn’t usually a problem as people wil tend to make allowances due to the extraordinary abilities present here. Lenny is essentially a free spirit, bowing the knee to no one, and refusing to conform or suffer what he sees as restriction. Ordinary life is just too boring and uninteresting for Lenny - he needs something unusual, out of the ordinary, even way out to keep him interested. Although Lenny is a liberty-lover he does get on very well with people, especially if he can be the centre of attraction. His mental and communication skills are extraordinary, even bordering on genius, and this is where he will put then to good use once he finds his niche in life. His career will be anything other than conventional or straightforward, having many twists and turn and some exciting times as things suddenly change.

Neptune trine Jupiter.

Lenny is gifted with a terrific imagination, almost visionary one could say. He sees the greater picture and deep down really wants to achieve something really worthwhile, preferably for the benefit of all. Once on track he will find that all his needs are supplied, almost as if the had of some strange ‘fate’ was assisting and guiding his every step. This man has hidden talents; abilities he either keeps to himself or isn’t yet aware of. His intuition is high - although in public he would deny that such a thing even exists - and it will have a habit of supplying some truly wonderful ideas when the time is right.

Now just when we thought things couldn’t get any better - they do. Just how fortunate can a man get?

Pluto conjunct Jupiter.

Of all the aspects to Jupiter in his chart this one is arguably the most fortunate, and the most powerful. Lenny is a revolutionary, and I mean that in the nicest way. He has the ability to take old, outmoded concepts and breath new life into them, and he won’t rest until he has. Boundless enthusiasm and single-mindedness will see him being able to carry through his plans with consummate ease, brushing aside obstacles and getting people onboard regardless of their previous stance. Once on course he will be unstoppable. His efforts will ultimately see him gaining recognition and doing very well in life. Also, spotting opportunities and capitalising on them should present no problems. There will be major changes in direction from time to time, and with each one he will move onwards and upwards.

The Sign of Virgo lies in the cusp of the 10th House.

This is the Sign of the analyst, the specialist, the perfectionist, and the critic. Lenny ought to be good at details and assembling facts in a logical manner. His only problem is that he can be worrisome and fussy as the tendency for perfection and neatness gets the better of him.

Mercury in Pisces.

Very imaginative, even intuitive, this marks the mind of a man who has vision. It also suggests that he worries over trifles. He has ideals of serving the common good. On the downside, his emotions will tend to rule his thinking so that he finds decisions are not always easy to make. Forgetfulness will lead to mistakes being made.

Pluto opposes Mercury.

Lenny likes to have his own way and will insist that his methods and thoughts are the only ones worthy of consideration. He can be very emotional and obsessive once on course and will not listen to reason. He likes to oppose just for the sake of it and has a deep need to force his ideas onto others and to be as critical as possible. Problem is, it will put of the very people who can be most useful to him. He should consider his words carefully and not let his emotions control his thoughts and actions. If he doesn’t, the repercussions are inevitable.

Mental & communication skills.

The Sign of Aquarius lies on the cusp of the 3rd House.

Lenny’s early education must have been quite different to most folk. He would have strong interests in science, technology, and anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Anything else would have aroused little enthusiasm or interest. He could be quite stubborn and one pointed, learning those things that interested him at almost lightening speed but refusing to learn simply because it was expected of him. No amount of persuasion would have any effect - Lenny was going to do it his way. Expecting Lenny to conform and obey instructions would have been equally pointless. If Lenny didn’t want to listen - he wouldn’t. Yet he would have been an unusually bright child exhibiting the most remarkable abilities and probably being ahead of his time.

Today, little will have changed as Lenny continues to think his own thoughts, do his own thing and generally resist any mode of thinking that doesn’t conform to his own philosophy.

Moon square Uranus.

This indicated a mind that is certainly different, even remarkable, but a mind that is emotionalised and subject to changing moods. Nervous tension and emotional problems are sure to be in evidence. He can be touchy and over excitable, rapidly rising to his own defence at the least provocation. His opinions are sometimes so inflexible they border on the dogmatic, yet he is likely to change them instantly if it suits his purpose. People may find him baffling. He can also be quite abrupt, prone to force his opinions on to others and cannot, or will not listen to advice, or indeed himself. No one wins an argument with Lenny.

Sun opposite Uranus.

More nervous tension is to be expected with this configuration and extreme restlessness. Lenny simply cannot relax for long, he is impelled to obey the dictates of his own mind that demand constant stimulation. Lenny thinks his own thoughts, wants and expects everyone to hear them whether they are interested or not. Again, he won’t listen to reason, instead he will argue, change the subject, twist words, or rapidly change his own views if it suits his purpose - which is to express himself, his opinions, and be noticed. Jumping to conclusions and making knee-jerk reactions is also on the cards. He is talented, but the awkwardness of his nature, over which he has not control and doesn’t see why he should bother, does him no favours and inevitably leads to more conflict and eventual repercussions.

Jupiter conjuncts Uranus.

This aspect often indicated the mind set of an advanced thinker with a touch of brilliance to be envied. It could be said that his mind borders on genius. His ability to come up with remarkable ideas and inventive solutions to problems will find him favour, even if it does surprise people. Lenny finds ordinary life too boring and uninteresting to be of any consequence, what he looks for is something exciting, unusual, even way out. He does have a real thirst for knowledge but his learning may be a little fitful or even biased.

Neptune trine Mercury.

Here we have the mind of an artist, someone who has great imagination, even vision. He is probably very talented but he may not display his abilities readily. He can be secretive about his aims, preferring to keep them to himself until he is ready to reveal them. Wining is important, but in this case he tries to do it by subtlety or indirect means.

Any Neptune aspect brings with it a degree of sensitivity and sometimes a need to be alone with imaginative dreams.

Pluto opposes Mercury.

This is the classic aspect of an obsessive thinker, someone who lets something play on his mind and simply cannot let it go. He seeks to win the intellectual argument at all costs, caring little about the methods used. ‘The end justifies the means’. He can neither forgive nor forget. He will try to undermine his opponent by setting traps, exploiting what he sees as their weakness, using their words against them, constantly probing and testing, goading, taunting, being sarcastic, and looking for any avenue to exploit, And if he can’t find one or is effectively countered he is likely to become very angry and highly emotional. Lenny likes his own way and will insist that his way of looking at something is the only one worth considering.

Lenny has a tendency to force his ideas into people, and he particularly dislikes those who he sees as being in a position of strength or authority - they are there to be knocked down. But why? This aspect is often the indicator of a disrupted education, one which was brought to a halt by one or more traumatic incidents in which a child was subjected to undue pressure or embarrassed in some way. I think this is the case here, and I also think that Lenny now seeks some form of compensation or revenge for the hurt inflicted, the tragedy being he doesn’t yet realise it.

Mercury Pluto aspects imply that the recipient carries a dark secret. What is it that Lenny hides way? Could it be some sordid activity witnessed while quite young? Is it a deep hatred of something, or someone? What is the demon he is trying to destroy? Does he now try desperately to get to the ‘truth’ by any means possible because the real truth held in his past either refuses to reveal itself or is beyond his reach? Why does he like to ferret out every little snippet of information he can find about someone he doesn’t like?

To Lenny. ‘knowledge is power’, so the more he knows about someone the more in control he feels. That is why he will use all manner of tactics, including taunts and sarcasm to acquire information, because the feedback he gets tells him far more than it would tell you and I. Lenny sees what others don’t see. His aim isn’t just to get the better of his opponent, it actually makes him feel good - gives him a sense of power. But how does he feel when he is not on a high? Well the problem with this aspect it that is tends to produce great uncertainty and fear, so much so that it can, and usually does, bring up disturbing thoughts that are very hard to shake off. Curiosity may become so obsessive and intense that it will actually affect his health. Mental/emotional strain can build up to the point where it becomes debilitating. The answer to this problem is simply one of letting go, but Lenny is held in a vice-like grip of the very emotions he thrives on, not realising that his ’pleasure’ is actually harming no one other than himself, either through emotional strain or the inevitable repercussions resulting from his own actions.

Emotions.

The Moon.

The condition and placing of Lenny’s Moon is of paramount importance because it indicates someone who is at war within himself. Finding peace of mind will not be easy, especially when one considers the already large amount of restless activity-seeking and nervous tension in his chart.

Moon in the 8th House.

The Moon is at the point of a T-square which inevitably causes stressful situations and feelings. There is great uncertainty and fear to be contended with. As the Moon rules the home and family life I would imagine there have been one or more major traumas here, with the result that it would have caused deep insecurity which still haunts him today. He will be very defensive about his home and family life as if needing to protect it at all costs; even the slightest threat, or perceived threat, will be enough to trigger a response. It is hard to be certain, but either Lenny will be very dependent on his mother or the relationship is so strained it is hard to equate to. One way or another his mother exerts a great deal of influence over him.

The Moon in this House has very similar overtones to the Moon in Scorpio. He is very touchy and will rapidly rise to his own defence at the slightest provocation, cutting people off should the mood take him - his way of neutralising the potential harm. Lenny does not forgive and forget, in fact he broods over even the slightest hurt, real or imagined, secretly inflicting harm on the ‘enemy’ in his mind’s eye and generally getting quite bitter and worked up about it all. His moods are changeable, even unstable, and as the pressure builds he will on occasion explode with great force.

In this position, Lenny’s emotions are far from easy to control and it would be fair to say that there have been times in his life when he was in emotional turmoil - although he will stubbornly deny it. The tragedy is that he actually doesn’t want to control his feelings because he derives a great deal of pleasure from them, partly because it gets attention and partly because it allows him to exercise control over people.

Neptune in the 12th House.

Here we go from one extreme to the other, making this a complex picture. On the one had we have the problems associated with his Moon, yet here we have a well positioned Neptune which is also delightfully aspected. Lenny is a very sensitive person, capable of feeling far more than most folk and as such has an intuitive understanding of the needs of his fellow beings. Sympathy and kindness will come naturally, but it won’t end there because Lenny will move heaven and earth to help anyone whom he sees as being disadvantaged or in difficulties. More often than not he seeks no recognition for himself, his gratification comes solely from knowing he has tried to make a difference.

It isn’t all plain sailing, in fact it never is with the 12th House. There is always the chance of being used or let down, or simply not being appreciated for one’s efforts. It is also a worrisome placing due to the great sensitivity it brings. But all in all it raises the mind and the emotions to great heights and, incidentally, can bring its own rewards through avenues not seen. The message with this placing is that peace, solitude, and quiet reflection are worth far more than gold and should be taken seriously.

Lenny the loony - his response to my report.

In response to my lengthy report, as predicted Lenny concluded it was ALL incorrect, describing me as 'a nutcase, delusional Astrologer'. Lenny also concluded that even by chance I should have got something right.

Yes, according to chance even if I had been given the wrong birth data or had just written whatever came to mind I would, according to Lenny, have got something correct. But no, Lenny states categorically that I was completely wrong. Strange logic. So let me get this right. Here are some of the things I said that Lenny vehemently disagrees with, so we have to assume he takes the opposing view.

This aspect often indicated the mind set of an advanced thinker with a touch of brilliance to be envied. It could be said that his mind borders on genius.

If he disagrees with this then we must conclude that Lenny considers himself to be pretty ordinary in his thinking with a low IQ.

An excellent indicator of a go-getter, someone who isn’t afraid of hard work and who will keep going when others flag, pushing aside obstacles as if they didn’t matter.

So, according to Lenny he is a lazy good for nothing.

Here we have compassion, caring and understanding, someone who will go out of his way to help others even at his own expense, with the possibility of becoming involved in charitable causes.

Therefore, according to Lenny, he really doesn't give a damn about people, and wouldn't help them even if asked.

He means well, and in fact a more generous and fun-loving man you would be hard-pressed to find.

Lenny's view must then be that he is a miserable and miserly cretin.

Lenny is gifted with a terrific imagination, almost visionary one could say. He sees the greater picture and deep down really wants to achieve something really worthwhile, preferably for the benefit of all.

Lenny must therefore believe he couldn't see his hand in front of his face let alone use his imagination, and as for people - forget it!

Boundless enthusiasm and single-mindedness will see him being able to carry through his plans with consummate ease, brushing aside obstacles and getting people onboard regardless of their previous stance.

Lenny therefore believes he is as lethargic as an epileptic snail and couldn't influence anyone.

See the full profile here.

Lenny has still to respond positively to his claim that he can turn Adolf Hitler's chart into Mother Theresa.

The continuing hypocrisy of Lennyhipp [Lenny the loony].

Lenny tries to give the impression I have declared that only those who have thoroughly studied Astrology are fit to criticise it. Given the fact that a] Lenny is prone to exaggeration and other malfunctions of the mind [see his profile], and b] I never said this anyway, I need to explain matters so that even Lenny can understand.

I maintain, as does any rational being, that a person's ability to criticise Astrology, or indeed anything, is directly proportional to their understanding of the subject in question. In other words, the more one knows, the better placed the individual to make such criticisms. Critics, like Lenny, base their arguments on hearsay or what their cronies tell them. So I ask, what basis is this for fair and balanced criticism? His protestations are simply a way of avoiding the plain fact that he, and others, simply don't know what they are talking about. I assert: Any fool can be a critic.

Now to the hypocrisy. Lenny, as you are well aware, has on numerous occasions declared that ALL Astrology is delusional and that it simply does not work. However, in a recent email, Lenny states:

I challenge you to provide me with your birth data too.  We'll see who is more accurate. I don't have a fancy computer program, but I have been studying astrology, and will do my capable best. If worse comes to worse, I will have Nina get Dr. Dover to do the chart for me and then i will interpret it from there, but I will at least try to do the chart on my own.

This was followed by:

When you have the time, please send your birth data... i've done Lovasip's chart, and Shanedk's...

i might even take your challenge one day soon, but i still need more practice, but i think i'm doing it pretty good for an amateur.

Studying Astrology? Need more practice? Might take my challenge? What a U-turn! What hypocrisy

And Now... One would imagine that Lenny could use all the friends he can get with the radical views he holds. Not so. This is what he thinks of his fellow critics:

Many of my fellow critics are as ignorant as those I investigate.

I wonder if the phrase 'putting foot in mouth' is one Lenny has come across yet?
