The
Basics
There
are an awful lot of ideas out there, some are contradictory, others
border on the ridiculous, so who do you believe? This web site was
originally set up to provide a source of information to which
interested people could refer in order to discover the difference
between what is real and what is not. To begin...
1]
Astrology
is based on the use of observation and logical deduction. It is not
connected to the paranormal nor is it mysterious.
2]
Astrology
is based on the relationship between Time, Space, and Events. It does
not depend on some strange 'influence' emanating from planets or
deeply hidden secrets of the Universe.
3]
Anyone
with average intelligence can learn the subject, no special abilities
are needed (such as being clairvoyant) and the basics can be learned
fairly quickly.
First
and foremost astrology is a way of thinking, and although its roots lie in our
distant past it has nothing whatsoever to do with magic, superstition,
or the paranormal, although anyone looking at the subject for the first
time could be excused for thinking otherwise. This is unfortunate
because it gives the wrong impression to the novice and provides the
critics with much ammunition.
Why
a valuable techique such as this should be aligned with superstition
probably lies with the attitude adopted by the Christian Church many
centuries ago when anything other than church dogma was suppressed,
ridiculed, or eliminated. Evidence of this sort of thinking can be seen
today if one looks. For example, people's negative attitude and
fears towards cats can be traced back to the time when the humble cat
was branded as a tool of witchcraft. Mud sticks, as they say. Astrology,
although studied and used by certain factions within the Church, was
outwardly condemned as the 'work of the Devil' and outlawed. Human
nature being what it is defied such draconian measures through the
efforts of certain individuals who continued with their studies and
taught the subject in secrecy - thus beginning the first association
between astrology and the occult (def: that which is hidden). As time
passed, elements of astrology began to emerge in sporadic fashion yet
without the full structure needed to keep things on a common sense
basis. Charlatans of all types became the popular exponents of the art
while the more genuine - and less sensation-seeking - practitioners were
to a large extent crowded out. In this haphazard and unregulated form,
astrology moved through the centuries without any clear identity still
tainted by 'eternal damnation', superstition, and fortune telling.
Little wonder that the public perception of this noble art is mainly
far removed from reality.
Various
theories have been advanced concerning the mechanism by which astrology
works, some merit consideration, others appear to border on the
fantastic. Let me attempt to set the record straight by advancing a
theory of my own. We begin by looking at the relationship which
undoubtedly exists between Time, Space, and Events.
Time
and Events. At any point in time at a specific place you will find a
series of events occurring. Try it for yourself right now. As you read
this, events are unfolding all around you. Now
think about this: that time can never occur again, it is unique.
Likewise, the events which flowed from that point in time can never
occur again, they are unique. Also, if we take a different point in
time, the events will be different. Conclusion: Time and Events
are linked and dependent on each other.
Time
and Space. We will now repeat the experiment using the same point in
time but using a different location. Imagine you are back to where you
were a few moments ago but this time you are in a different location
some miles away, perhaps in a friend's house or indeed anywhere you
choose. The events which now unfold are perhaps similar in some respects
but they are not the same in every detail. Your perspective of
what is happening around you has changed as well. Move your location to
the other side of the world and the resulting events would be changed
even more. Conclusion: Time and Location (Space) are linked and
dependent on each other.
I
could continue this discussion at some length, but rather than spend
time simply reinforcing what has already been written I would simply ask
you to dwell on the fact that:
For
any point in Time at a particular point in Space specific Events
will flow which are unique to that time and place.
If
it is true that precise and unique events flow from a specific time and
place wouldn't it be nice if we could know in advance what these events
were likely to be? This is precisely what astrology is designed to do.
Of course every second of time is a catalyst for events, but the real
gain is to be made by concentrating on times which are special or
important in some way, such as a time of birth. But, even after
selecting our time (and location, of course) how on earth can we predict
the flow of events? We need something rather special, something beyond
the seemingly rational or scientific. I cannot answer the question as to
how the human race came upon the answer, but they most certainly did
thousands of years ago when astrology first emerged into human
consciousness. It was observed that there appeared to be a correlation
between the positions and movements of the planets and events here on
earth. Why this correlation exists no one has satisfactorily explained,
yet exist it surely does and can be observed by anyone who takes the
time and trouble to draw up a chart and then interpret it using the well
established technique of Keywords.

Astrology
depends on interpreting a special chart of the heavens drawn up for a
chosen time and place usually known as a Horoscope, the name being
derived from the Greek word for the Sun - Horos. Just as every moment in
time contains the potential for events this chart, being a map of
time, also shows this potential once we have learned to read it, that
is. A horoscope can be erected for any time we care to choose, and
indeed charts are drawn up for important events, such as earthquakes or
the founding of a company, but their main use is for birth. A birth
chart shows the potential for events that the person is likely to
experience during his or her life and, in addition, shows that person's
attitude and reaction towards such things in the form of character
traits. It is possible to isolate these traits and explain them, this
being the normal practice of chart interpretation. What is not generally
realised is that the potential for events and the way they unfold can
also be explained using only the birth chart, a general guide to the
future life of the individual can therefore be ascertained. Using more
advanced techniques known as progressions and transits together with
what are known as return charts it is possible to be far more specific
as to the nature of events and one's reactions to them.
In
short, a birth chart can reveal a person's character traits,
personality, feelings, emotions, and mentality in great depth long
before they even begin to develop - and we astrologers don't need to dissect
a person's genes or interfere with Nature to know these things. But
there is more. We can also describe in great detail any aspect person's
life, such as relationships, finances, education, work and career, etc.
It's all in the chart because the chart is a map of a moment in time
and, as you now know, every moment of time contains the potential
inherent in the moment.
I
mentioned looking at the way the future is likely to develop. 'You can't
see into the future or predict it' say the scientists and other sceptics,
yet what is a weather forecast - isn't it an attempt to see into the
future by using observable phenomena? We astrologers do exactly the
same, but please don't call it fortune telling because it is far more
than that. Dealing with the future is a complex business and one
certainly can't get a complete picture by 'looking at your transits' or
those newspaper forecasts based solely on the Sun-Sign. A range of
methods are used which are then synthesised into a meaningful whole.
Horoscopes
have many practical uses ranging from giving an individual insight into
what he or she is, how they react, and how they might better themselves,
to the parent who would like to see how their child is likely to develop
so that steps can be taken in advance to counter any potential problems
while seeking to develop talents and abilities. To a psychologist, here
is a clearly laid out map of the mind and its workings. To the doctor, a
map of the body and its functions showing where the strengths and
weaknesses are before they develop. All that is needed is for
professional people out there to stop criticising or being dismissive
and instead start examining what is on offer. The world could be a
better place if they did.

That
depends on the depth of study you are prepared to make. I can teach
someone to begin reading a chart in a few hours using techniques I have
developed myself over many years. Within a few weeks you could be
writing reports which are both accurate and recognisable by the subject.
It all depends on how keen you are and how much time you are prepared to
put into your studies. Once you have grasped the basics it is just as
easy to begin the task of predicting future trends using special methods
I have developed. From there you create your own depth of knowledge for
there is almost no end to the things you can learn about astrology - I
have been active in the field for over two decades and I still consider
myself a beginner.

The
short answer is simply no. All you need is average intelligence and a
willingness to learn. It helps if you are keen to learn and determined
to succeed. You certainly don't need to be psychic because astrology is
a logical system using observation and deduction. It's a bit like
reading a map. Once you know what the symbols mean it's easy. Even the
more advanced techniques are not that difficult to master once they are
explained properly.
Astrology
needn't be a mystery, and learning the subject needn't be a chore. Check
out the available courses for
rapid learning methods. You could soon be reading charts.
