Paul
McCartney & Heather Mills.
In
any Astrological assessment of a relationship it is prudent to examine the
basic relationship drives of each person as well as the
interactions.
Paul
McCartney.
Pisces
on the cusp of the 7th House indicates a highly romantic nature with a
strong need to support and where necessary sacrifice his own interests in
order to bring happiness to his partner. He will always try to see the
best in her and generally overlook any inadequacies and forgive easily.
Problems are likely to occur because he tends to see his partner in an
idealistic light, and this leaves him wide open to self-deception and
disappointment when the reality fails to match up to the ideal. With the
ruler Neptune in square aspect to Jupiter, this could lead to being taken
advantage of - remember the Maharishi? The lack of sound judgement often
present with this configuration can prove damaging and costly. The Sun
also casts a square aspect to Neptune thereby adding to the problem of
idealism rather than fact. Only Mars contributes anything worthwhile,
showing that mutual togetherness can survive up to a point as long as each
partner is free either to work together or separately as they wish.
Venus,
the natural ruler of relationships, has little to offer with a restless
semisquare to Mercury and a square to the Moon. It is not easy for Paul to
express his feelings adequately because he is never certain what these
feelings are and they are likely to change very quickly according to
mood.
Heather
Mills.
The
main problem here is that I don't have a time of birth, so this means that
the position of the Ascendant and in particular the 7th House cusp cannot
be determined. The Aspects to the Moon are similarly unknown.
Using
a Solar chart one can immediately see that Venus lies in Sagittarius, a
somewhat restless and changeable position which also demands a lot of
personal freedom. Any permanent relationship is not easy with this Sign especially
when there are difficult aspects. Venus also lies in the 12th House,
further adding to the problem, and this is typical of someone who is
locked into a loveless marriage or tied to someone for all the wrong
reasons. Her real intentions are likely to be kept secret.
Synastry.
A
comparison of the two charts makes me wonder what they saw in each other
as there are so few compatible aspects. Sun to Venus will create some
empathy and even affection. Like Paul, she also has a Venus Moon
affliction, making the expression of feelings difficult and so adding to
misunderstandings and tension. Mercury and Uranus was probably the trigger
for this relationship, causing a sudden, exciting attraction and lots of
interesting conversation, but again a large degree of personal freedom is
required to make this work. Finally, Mars and Jupiter in sextile aspect
will show a joint love of adventure and activity and does enable them to
work jointly on projects, supporting each other along the way. What would
concern me had I seen the synastry chart prior to the marriage is the
amount of friction caused by Mars. Conflicts and arguments were bound to
surface fairly quickly with entrenched positions soon being taken up and
defended. Uranus also doesn't help, and allied with the Mars afflictions
was bound to lead to irreconcilable differences and the possibility of
breakup.
As
we can all see in the Media, the battle lines have been drawn and the
differences of opinions mentioned are now all too clear. With Pluto now
opposing Paul's Sun in his Solar return chart there is bound to be a major
change in his life with a shedding of the outmoded. It will be painful and
probably costly but as this is not natally configured I would imagine that
he will pick himself up and move on. What he shouldn't do is get involved
with a power struggle as it can only make matters worse.
