At last, this thirty year old affair is to be given an official stamp of approval by Buck House. But, what are the chances of this marriage succeeding when the record for royal marriages is so bad? The answer can be found using the astrological technique of synastry in which two charts are compared. 

We begin by looking at each chart to see how each person approaches relationships. Both charts have Aquarius on the 7th House and the ruling planet, Uranus, in the 11th House. The implication is that they both see eye to eye on what a 'relationship' means. Both like their own space and a degree of personal freedom yet there is no clash of interests. This also makes for a really friendly relationship as well as a close one.

The ascendant in both charts is Leo and they are within 3 degrees, indicating that they share the same outlook on life and their personalities match closely. The ruling planet, the Sun, is in the Sign of Cancer and the 12th House of Camilla's chart, indicating a deeply caring and romantic soul who is prepared to sacrifice a great deal for her partner. Charles' Sun lies in the Sign of Scorpio and in the 4th House. It is not well aspected, so I would expect that Charles is more demanding and has deep passions which may not be easy to satisfy. Nevertheless, the existence of a trine between the two Suns is a powerful bond and a force for good.

Venus is the natural ruler of relationships. Charles' Venus is well aspected in Libra and the 3rd House, and has a delightful Neptune conjunction. This indicates strong togetherness and a love of conversation. Camilla's Venus lies in the romantic 12th House and is generally well aspected, adding much to what has already been said about her caring and romantic nature. My only concern here is the awkward square from Neptune which suggests that she is easily swayed and gullible to suggestion and also suffers from perfectionism; part of her nature longs for the perfect partner but can never find anyone to fit the ideal. This could be troublesome in years to come.

More could be said about each individuals attitude towards life and each other but as this is a short report concerned with the main points we will now move on to synastry proper. For the sake of clarity, I have restricted the interpretations to the main points - obviously much more could be said.

Distinct lack of clarity in relationship matters. They may expect too much of each other or feel disapointed when the reaction they expected didn't happen. Deception always a possibility. May drift apart to some degree.

The synastry of these two planets means that Camilla and Charles are able to tell each other not only what they are thinking, but also how they are feeling. Only nine aspects connect the charts, of which 5 are positive and 4 are negative. The relationship has some strong points but I would be concerned for the long term due to the effects of Neptune and Pluto. It is one thing to have a secret affair which is thrilling, it is quite another to make this formal and enter the everyday world as plain Mr. & Mrs. I think the initial impetus may fade away in time. 

As a final thought, Charles is a Sun-Scorpio with an afflicted Sun that causes him to be possessive, selfish, concerned with his own interests above others, and capable of having tantrums if he doesn't get his own way. He is also something of a control freak and he doesn't like to let go of something, or someone, once he has decided that it belongs to him. Camilla, on the other hand, is a steady, easy-going Taurus with the ability to keep going regardless - all in the interests of preserving the status quo, whatever that is. While this makes for a long term relationship of sorts - and there are some very good indications of happiness -  the 'glue' holding it together must eventually break. Will it then continue like the Charles-Dianna farce or will the power of the good aspects overcome the difficulties? Only time will tell, but I am doubtful about the long-term.
