Good morning.
3rd April 2006. Retrograde Saturn. Saturn will change from retrograde [appearing to go backwards in the Zodiac] to direct motion which should mean that certain restrictions will now begin to ease, one of these being the sluggishness of the housing market. Government control, which recently had been going nowhere, should also start to move into gear and the wheels of the legislative machine will begin to grind on once more - but to everyone's advantage?
It is tempting to make all manner of predictions about phenomena such as this but the truth is that it is unwise to take a single occurrence like this in isolation - Sun Sign cowboys take note. One needs an accurate chart in which to observe the phenomena, but which chart does one use? The ones on offer seem sadly lacking. On a personal level it would be folly to make anything other than a brief comment because each and every individuals chart tells its own story and the phenomena must be interpreted in this light. Where, for instance, is Saturn in your own chart? Only if you know can any accurate assessment be made.
Astrology can be remarkably accurate, providing we have an accurate chart to examine. It will not work in a general sense regardless of what the Sun Sign brigade say - for example you Capricorns out there will now... Check it out.
6th April 2006. Don't you believe it. There is quite a lot of confusing and contradictory information about Astrology in circulation, largely due to the unfortunate association with the paranormal. For example, lucky numbers, gemstones, colours and the like.
Astrology is a logical process and has nothing whatsoever to do with the paranormal. I would like to say it is scientific, but as I have such little regard for science these days it would be better classified as just that - a logical, deductive process which, incidentally, anyone of average intelligence can learn. If you hear about so-called Astrologers telling you that they are getting strong psychic messages or that they simply lift their eyes up to heaven and the words flow you can bet that they know little about the subject. One reads a chart, rather like reading a map, analysing, collecting facts, and then forming an interpretation. Any other way is not Astrology.
7th April 2006 Sun in the Houses. As we are now at the end of the series on your Sun in the Houses it seems prudent to say that a single interpretation like this is not the complete picture but simply a glimpse into part of the whole. No Astrological factor should be taken isolation. To give your an example of what I mean, let's suppose your Sun lies in the 4th House. The first thing to ask is what are the aspects to the Sun as each one will add to the overall picture. A trine from Jupiter would produce happy conditions and almost certainly a house which increased its value. A square from Mars would create conflict and a state of tension. How can both of these contrary features co-exist? Well the simple answer is that they don't - at least not at the same time - they will alternate, depending on other planetary movements.
The Sign on the cusp of the 4th House plays a major role, as indeed does its ruler. For example, if the Sign is Capricorn then the conditions surrounding the home and domestic life would be somewhat regimented, the parents probably ambitious types, and tradition would rule the day. The ruler of the Sign, in this case Saturn, would also add valuable information, so we would look at its condition by aspectation and the House in which it resides. If, for instance, it lay in the 9th House then it is almost certain the subject will live far away from the place of birth.
The natural ruler of the House - in this case Cancer - and it's ruling planet are also examined in a similar fashion, and a case could be made for the Solar ruler as well. So, as you can see, there is far more to the Sun-House placement then is at first evident. Only by using all of these factors can an accurate assessment be made. .
10th April 2006. New series on Ascending Signs. The series of articles on the Sun through the Houses proved to be popular, so I will continue by looking at the all-important Ascending Sign, sometimes known as the Rising Sign, or simply as the Ascendant. As always, it is important to realise that this is one indicator of your personality among many and so should not be taken as the complete picture. Other factors, such as planets in the 1st House, need also to be considered. Nevertheless, the ascending Sign is still a good guide to your main personality traits.
Work is continuing on the scam Astrology site survey and the database is being constantly updated. The worst offenders will be featured in full, so watch this space.
12th April 2006. Sun Sign Cowboys. Not very long ago Astrology was a noble profession practiced by dedicated people who had thoroughly studied the subject. Today things are so very different as the Sun Sign Cowboys rule the roost, and as far as the greater public is concerned they are the real thing. Every day millions read their horoscopes failing to realise that they are largely nonsense - sometimes just the fantasies of over-imaginative individuals, or the words of those who say the first thing that comes into their head. Grand-sounding titles are self bestowed and some are given the status of celebrities or actively seek a high profile, usually for the purposes of making huge amounts of money and/or as an ego trip. By contrast, genuine Astrologers prefer to work quietly out of the public eye.
Since the invention of the computer interpretation program we now have hundreds of so-called Astrology sites offering many inducements to purchase their reports - reports that are not, and can never be, a substitute for the real thing. Anyone can now set themselves up as an Astrologer and hide behind a flashy website. See bogus web sites and my web site survey.
This site was set up as an alternative to the predigested nonsense on offer and as a reference point for anyone interested in genuine Astrological information and correct standards.
14th April 2006. Sun Sign horoscopes. I have been asked why is it that I criticise horoscopes while at the same time providing them. A good question that deserves a reply.
The answer is that the horoscopes churned out in newspapers and magazines are based on trying to interpret the movements of the quicker-moving planets, such as the Moon, and anyone with any knowledge of real Astrology will know that this is simply nonsense. The horoscopes I provide are a yearly forecast based on specific charts rather than rapid transits. They are reasonably accurate in a general sense and therefore worth publishing.
One of the problems with producing a website is trying to find a balance between presentation and the graphics needed to do this satisfactorily and download times. Basically, the better the presentation, the longer it will take to display. With the roll out of broadband it is now possible to much more content into a web page for the same download time, which is why I will soon be launching a broadband web site to run in tandem with this one. This will give you the choice of either service. More on this later.
20th April 2006. Answering the critics. It never ceases to amaze me how the mere mention of Astrology to some people evokes a negative response often bordering on the hysterical. "You don't believe that rubbish" or words to that effect explode from the person as if they had been mortally wounded or that you were somehow involved in the work of the Devil. These bigots, for that is what they are, are wrong. Almost invariably, the bigots have never even bothered to look seriously at the subject let alone study it, yet they try to condemn something they know nothing about, and when challenged refuse to listen. I don't try to convince them anymore because you can't deal with a closed mind.
You don't have to believe in Astrology for it to work, anymore than you need to believe in, say, physics, chemistry, or mathematics. Astrology is a perfectly logical system of deduction that can be learned by anyone of average intelligence. I think most of the problem is due to the unfortunate connection with the paranormal, not to mention the antics of the would-be Astrologers one sees in the media these days. One of the main reasons I set up and maintain this site is to combat this ignorance by presenting the facts. With your support I can do just that.
Important notice. Since Sunday I have been experiencing a major problem with my web site hosting company which has prevented me from updating my pages. Most of this is under control and I hope to have this sorted out by this weekend, but there may be some disruption to service from time to time.
24th April 20006. That New Moon - again! As we approach the New Moon I can already see the wonderfully optimistic predictions appearing on web sites. This is going to be such a w o n d e r f u l time. In fact we get the same predictions just about every New Moon. And what actually happens - nothing! What they fail to realise is that quick-moving planets like the Moon have little or no effect in a general sense, and particularly so if you are going to try to apply this to Sun Signs. So forget the rubbish about making wishes or living in a state of tension for a few days. It won't happen - just carry on as normal.
26th April 2006. Seeing the future? Most people have the impression that Astrology is all about horoscopes - looking into the future. Astrology is more than this - far more. Just by using a basic chart - planets and Angles without those gimmicky ideas like nodes, asteroids, Arabic parts, etc. - it is possible to glean a huge amount of information - information that can be very useful to a person in helping them get a better deal out of life. No it isn't a magic wand that will solve all your problems, but it is a way of knowing what to do and what not to do, and providing the advice is acted on the results are sure to follow.
Astrology does not attempt to predict the future. Yes I know it may sound strange, especially when you read the stuff in newspapers. Astrology predicts trends, and within those trends are possibilities. An aspect from, say, Uranus will produce sudden changes, some of them quite unexpected or exciting. That much we can say with certainty. The planet aspected by Uranus as well as the House positions of Uranus and this planet will give further insight. Thus it is possible to be quite specific about the likely possibilities. Well isn't this predicting the future? Not really, at least not in the same way as a psychic. All we are doing is predicting trends, and in a general sense what we predict is likely to happen with a particular configuration. However, the Astrologer can add much more in the way of practical advice regarding what to do and what not to do. Free choice is everything here. The trends may indicate certain events but the individual can take control and in most cases shape events to their liking because the time is right to do so. Of course you cannot do anything about a fait accompli but you can change your reactions to get the best out of the situation - if you know how, and this is where Astrology scores.
27th April 2006. Jonathan Cainer. Pleased to report that the site is now fully functioning after a period of technical problems.
The Sun Sign Cowboys never cease to amaze me. Today, Jonathan Cainer quotes a delighted man who won the lottery and who claims that Cainer predicted it. This is so typical of supposed Astrologers, who crow about their successful predictions yet fail to mention all the ones that went wrong - usually most of them. Let's look at the statistics.
This gentleman is a Cancerian, and how many other Cancer subjects are there on planet Earth? Hundreds of millions. As the prediction was for all Cancerians, perhaps Cainer would like to explain why every Cancerian didn't win - even the smallest amount. In actual fact Cainer never predicted such an event if you read the text, as usual he is vague.
So often people who are sold on Sun Sign predictions make the facts fit the predictions after the event and then feel strangely blessed that a famous Astrologer wrote something just for them, which of course is not true. If you want to know what is really happening in your future, the only way is to consult a genuine Astrologer and have your own chart examined.
28th April 2006. The unique You. Why is it that people are so different? Some are rich, others are poor; some have good health, others not; some have charming personalities others rub us up the wrong way. Everyone of you is a unique individual unlike anyone else on planet Earth.
Astrology offers the answer. Every moment in time is unique, unlike any other, and that moment in time has never happened before and will never happen again. Within this moment of time there is potential - potential for development which, in itself, is as unique as the moment from which it began to unfold. Of course some moments are more 'special 'than' others, your time of birth being the most important. By looking at the position of the planets at that time it is relatively easy to see what that potential is in human terms and also how it will develop over the years. No other system can do this, yet science rejects it as absurd. They rejected air flight not that long ago, and there is a whole catalogue of other rejections that can be laid at their door, each one of which has come true thanks to people who refused to be ignored.
One day, Astrology will be accepted and its enormous insight will be freely available to the human race, and that day is coming....
