Good morning.
2nd Jun 2007. Denial of our heritage - 3. Arrived at the West Kennet long barrow, which has long been a favourite resting place for my sometimes weary soul and which I view as a haven of peace and tranquility. Other folk think the same and it has long been a tradition here that people leave little offerings or light a candle. I don't normally do this but this time my partner and I took a small nightlight and lit it as a small gesture of appreciation.
My reverie was disturbed by a young lady who asked me if I had lit the candle to which I replied in the affirmative. In response she then had the cheek to ask me to extinguish it quoting National Trust rules etc. When asked why these rules were not posted outside the site she had no answer, neither would she confirm that she was from the National Trust or any other important body, muttering something about being 'part of the local archaeology department'. She then complained that my candle was damaging the stones to which I replied that it was nowhere near a stone and in any case stones were not inflammable and these particular stones had been here for thousands of years without any help from her or anyone like her. Asked for ID she couldn't comply. Having had enough of this intrusion I asked her to go away and mind her own business!
This is so typical of this country at the moment, when everyone including their pet dog has elected themselves as guardians of the ancient monuments. This interfering busybody even admitted she regularly 'cleaned up' - an odious task no doubt. But what about the devoted and well-meaning souls who placed their tiny and inoffensive offerings here for every good reason? Tough luck apparently. It is long overdue that we the public took back what is actually our property and put these people out to grass - preferably in some far way place!
4th June 2007. Daft critics. The depths to which critics will descend is quite amazing. Here is a recent comment sent anonymously.
Here
is what I think: you have wasted over 20 years of your life on something
that is of absolutely no use to anyone, because it is a fantasy from
beginning to end. You should be ashamed of yourself.
12 June 2007. Daft critics - 2. The faceless coward has written more ridiculous comments but hasn't got the courage to supply a return email address. This is so typical of critics. Here is the latest piece of hate mail:
-- On the contrary, I know a great deal about both you and your "work" from watching your many entertaining videos about astrology on YouTube and reading your quite pathetic posts beneath them. There, you reveal yourself to be nothing more than a con-artist who cannot answer the most basic questions on the validity of astrology. If you cannot properly demonstrate, defend and explain your practice in the face of genuine criticism, and refuse to undertake any objective process by which astrology can be measured for its effectiveness or otherwise, then it is YOU who are the coward, and YOU who are the poor excuse for a man. Until you are prepared to properly back up your childish claims, you will remain so. Do feel free to add this message to your homepage as well.
14th June 2007. Mercury retrograde. Well folks it's that time of the year when Mercury makes one of its strange moves by appearing to go backwards in the sky, known as retrograde motion. It only appears to do so due to the fact that the orbit of Mercury lies closer to the Sun than ours does. To Astrologers this is a significant time indicating that all things ruled by Mercury, such as telephones, public transport and the mail, will suffer delays and problems. Computers do have a habit of misbehaving more than normal. Interestingly enough, the retrograde occurs in the Sign of Cancer traditionally connected to the Home and Family so I would expect problems with the Housing market which could slow down and legal agreements could also get into a tangle [more than they normally do!].
I
have a short video explanation of retrograde Mercury on view here. 24 June 2008. I find that people's expectations of an Astrologer are sometimes a little strange, even bizarre, and I suspect that it is largely down to the media-driven perception now endemic in the minds of the public, often aided by fake Astrologers. One of the greatest misconceptions is that Astrologers are somehow gifted with psychic powers, even the so-called psychic investigator James Randi - and I use that term loosely - makes the mistake of assuming that Astrology is paranormal, without shred of evidence may I add.
Now while is it certainly possible that some Astrologers may be gifted with this sort of insight it is by no means necessary for an Astrologer to do his job properly; Astrology is based on logical assessment of a birth chart, something that anyone can do. Those who have seen my videos can see the methods used quite clearly. However, I do occasionally come across those who for some odd reason feel the need to test me out, even to the extent of asking me to tell them all about themselves without even supply any birth data. Astonishing! In a lesser way even though I supply the means by which clients may ask questions or give me some indication of a problem they are experiencing they don't do this, perhaps hoping that my 'powers' will detect such things automatically.
When someone consults a doctor, or indeed any other professional person, they enter into this fully, supplying whatever information is needed so that the very best advice can be given to them. Astrologers work in the same way - the more you work with them, the better will be the feedback. So, if you feel the need to consult an Astrologer do at least point him in the right direction otherwise the best he can do is to offer general advice based on your chart rather than being specific. Yes, there are those who will still say that we should be able to see all there is to see simply by looking at the chart, and this is basically true, but given the huge range of possibilities the Astrologer has to generalise unless pointed in the right direction.
For example: He notices a lot of activity in a client's 9th House, some good, some not so good. Now, this House, like all others, has many meanings, [in this case travel, legal and professional matters, religion, beliefs, distant affairs, foreign people, etc.] so which which should he choose and which should he ignore? Having a little background information from the client will help narrow this down so he can be more helpful. Working with your Astrologer is bound to be more productive, so if there is a problem or there is something specific you need to know then let him know, otherwise he has no choice other than to generalise, which although the interpretation may still be useful is still not as good as an interpretation targeted at the areas of concern. In short, don't test your Astrologer - work with him.
25 June 2007. If memory serves me correct I vaguely remember issuing a warning about psychic phone lines and the fact that a significant number of them are fakes, even fraudulent. I have just been alerted to the antics of one such site, which although such matters are not strictly Astrological and therefore beyond my remit, is nevertheless worthy of mention. The site in question is www.clairvoyance-web.com
What you should always bear in mind is that the possibility does exist that some sites offering psychic consultations by telephone are using specially trained people whose sole purpose is to keep you on the phone for as long as possible by giving you 'messages' that appear to be of a psychic origin but in fact are not. I am not saying that this site uses such practices, only that you should be aware if the possibility. Better still, if you do wish to consult a psychic then find a genuine one in your own area and arrange a face-to-face consultation. That way you can at least see what you are getting.
26th June 2007. Faceless coward exposed. Remember the comment I posted on the 4th June about the faceless coward? This is a critic who delights in sending anonymous hate mail to me. A little detective work reveals that he masquerades under the pseudonym of bananajim, IP reference 86.7.217.215. Banana is a fierce and obsessive critic of Astrology who was banned from my YouTube channel for posting abusive comments to my videos.
27th June 2007. Mercury retrograde update + latest news.. As expected, Mercury retrograde is disrupting communications [National postal strike this Friday] and transport [Many roads closed due to floods - even the M1 motorway]. Even MSN has had more than it's share of the jitters and broken connections. And we are not clear of the problems yet. It would be interesting to collect data on these areas over, say, a year or so to see if the peaks of disruption match the retrograde periods. I am pretty certain they will.
What I find particularly interesting is that the retrograde is occurring in the Sign of Cancer, traditionally connected to homes and to water.
I should say, mainly for the benefit of critics, that Mercury is not causing these events, it indicates them, and does so very well for those skilled in Mundane Astrology.
Latest: [1st July 2007].YouTube still hasn't got its site fully functioning - after 3 days of work the message We are currently performing site maintenance. Please be patient - we'll be back shortly is still displaying on at least one section.
