10 March 2006. Sun Sign Astrology

Some people have got the idea that I am against Sun Sign Astrology. This is not true. It has its place in the scheme of things, but what I object to is the way in which it is used and abused, being pushed way beyond its capacity to deliver. It is wrong to suggest that one can deduce relationships, finances, career and many other facets of life from the Sun Sign of a person. Whether this came about through over-fertile imaginations or deliberate invention I am not sure, but I am sure that it can't be done satisfactorily.

Moving on; it is equally wrong to publish daily or weekly horoscopes while pretending, or assuming, they are accurate. They are not. In order to produce them one has to use the transits of the faster-moving planets, which in themselves have little or no effect, even when applied to a person's actual birth chart, while techniques such as progressions, directions, and Solar returns cannot be used at all. The reasons for this upsurge would seem to be; making money, seeking publicity and fame, or sheer lack of knowledge of genuine Astrology. 

Using the right techniques it is possible to provide general guidance, but no more. So, Sun Signs do have some use but they will never compete with an appraisal of a person's birth chart by a competent Astrologer.

The main purpose of this site is to present accurate information about Astrology thereby enabling you to make the right choices. Part of that work is to examine what is being presented as Astrology to see if it is valid and truthful, and to this end I am now conducting a major survey of Astrological web sites which is already showing interesting results.  

It all began when out of curiosity I checked out someone calling themselves a leading Astrologer/psychic offering a free report. When it eventually arrived it contained wonderful predictions and invited me to click on a link for more information which looked even more promising. However, all is not as it seems. This turned out to be nothing more than a computer report scam and, having checked out these supposed lucky 'transits' I can confidently predict that they will not come true - it is a false inducement. 

So often this is the case as rogue dealers hiding behind the mask of Astrology con the public out of millions. My report is due out soon, so watch this space.

As I said earlier, I am conducting a major survey of Astrological web sites and various scams are being revealed, some of them quite cynical or even fraudulent. One of the main scams involves telling you that you are about to enter a most fortunate phase in which wonderful things are about to happen to you, money, fame, romance, whatever... It all looks convincing until one digs deeper and finds that this is another cheap computer report which you are urged to buy before it is too late to take advantage of the phase. Rubbish! I checked out my own chart and no such phase exists. Of course if you complain you will get nowhere - that is if you can get a reply, or even find some way of contacting the seller. More to come. 20th March 2006. New articles.

Apologies to those of you who have experienced difficulties in getting through; this was due to a breakdown of service on our ISP which [hopefully] has been fixed. 

Tomorrow, to coincide with the Spring Equinox, sees the first of a series of articles on the planets in your own birth chart that will build up into a huge database of information. Don't forget, if you haven't got a chart you can get one absolutely free here. If you do have a chart it may be wrong - quadrant Houses such as Placidus, incorrect orbs, etc. If in doubt get a new one. 

Having tried out various software to set up a chat line with varying degrees of success I have decided to use the long-established MSN network instead. I hope to extend this service to Yahoo in the near future.

21st March 2006. Where is your Sun?

I notice that one of the Sun Sign cowboys has decided to 'reopen' his discussion forum. How strange that he should do this so soon after a similar project was launched here. I suppose I should be flattered that he has chosen to imitate my idea - others may think he is simply copying it. And now to business...

Where is your Sun? 

Most of you will know the Sign in which your Sun resides - your Sun Sign - but how many of you know which House it is in? The only way to know is to have a chart cast by a competent Astrologer, and it is important to note that quite a lot of charts these days are NOT accurate, using incorrect House systems and planetary orbs. Only Equal House charts will do - the rest are likely to give the wrong position for one or more planets. 

What is the condition of your Sun?

By condition I mean the type of aspects applying to your Sun, which fall into three categories: Conjunction [mainly beneficial], beneficial, and difficult. Most Suns will be of mixed influences - some good, some not so good, but occasionally we do find Suns with wholly good or wholly difficult aspects. Knowing this helps us determine how a person will express themselves in the area of life defined by the House, such as relationships, finances, Home, career, etc. Again, the only way to know which House your Sun lies in is to have a chart cast, and it doesn't matter whether you know your time of birth accurately or not, or even if you don't know your birth time at all. 29th March 2006. Sun Sign Cowboy's predictions. 

Here we go again, it's eclipse time, that strange period in life when would-be Astrologers and Sun Sign Cowboys put their intelligence on hold and make [or simply repeat] the most ridiculous predictions. Jonathan Cainer makes the classic mistake of assuming that the eclipse occurring today will have a momentous effect in the lives of each individual and actually asks for volunteers to help with his 'research' on the matter. It's hardly scientific to tell people something is about to happen and then ask them if it did! 

Let me state quite categorically that unless this eclipse forms an aspect to a planet in an individual's chart then nothing significant will happen. Prove me wrong Jonathan. 

30th March 2006. Web site scams. 

The investigation into scams continues to reveal the depths to which some people will stoop in order to extract money from the public. Deliberate lies seem to be the norm. The descriptions used to sell their dubious reports are almost unbelievable, including 'We wrote the book when it comes to reports' and 'These reports are too close for comfort'. Whatever they say, these are cheap computer reports dressed up to look like the real thing. To add insult to injury, some of them even resort to depositing spyware on your computer.
